Certification

Engineering Certification for Equipment & Structures

Has a site, client or safety officer asked for an engineer's certificate? We check custom-built equipment, stands, frames and platforms, rate them for their safe working load and issue a certificate of compliance, usually from photos and measurements.

When you need it

  • A site won't let your gear in without engineering certification, which is common on Tier 1, utility and mine sites.
  • It's custom-built and has no manufacturer's rating plate or paperwork.
  • It's been modified, for example for bigger loads, a new attachment or a repair.
  • You've inherited it with a business or a site and nobody knows what it's rated for.

What we certify

  • Cable drum stands and spindles
  • Equipment frames, skids and stands
  • Platforms, walkways, stairs and ladders
  • Support structures, brackets and mounts
  • Workshop-built equipment and one-off fabrications

Not sure if yours fits? Send us a photo and we'll tell you.

Who signs it off

Certificates are signed by Eddie Khan, a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng, NER). Where state registration is required, our associate engineer Bodo Siemienowicz (RPEV, RPEQ), who has more than 50 years of engineering experience, provides independent certification.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an engineer to certify my cable drum stand?

If it's custom-built and doesn't have a manufacturer's rating plate, most likely yes, especially for Tier 1 or utility sites. We've written a full answer, including what to send us, in our Insights section.

What do I need to send?

Usually no drawings are needed. Photos from a few angles, rough dimensions and member sizes (a tape measure and a hand sketch is fine), and the load you need it rated for. If we need anything else, we'll ask.

What happens if it doesn't pass?

We tell you exactly why and what to change. The fix is often small, like an extra brace, a bigger pin or spindle, or a better weld. Once it's done, we certify the modified item.

Is your certification valid in Queensland?

In Queensland, professional engineering services must be carried out or supervised by a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ). Our associate engineer Bodo Siemienowicz is registered in both Queensland (RPEQ) and Victoria (RPEV).
