Industrial Structural Engineering & Steel Design
Steel design and calculations to AS 4100 for industrial sites, fabricators and heavy industry across Melbourne and Victoria. Practical structures your workshop can actually build, backed by clear calculations.
What we design
We design and check fabricated steel structures for industrial sites, workshops and heavy industry.
- Platforms, walkways and stairs designed to AS 1657, including handrails, landings and grating.
- Equipment support structures: skids, stands, plant frames and pipe supports.
- Heavy-load structures: decks and ramps that carry vehicles or mobile plant.
- Connection design: bolted and welded connections, base plates and anchor bolts.
- Checks of existing steelwork that is being modified, re-rated or repaired.
What you get
- A calculation report with load cases to AS/NZS 1170, plus member and connection design to AS 4100, set out clearly so a reviewer can follow it.
- Weld and bolt specifications, with welds to AS/NZS 1554.1.
- Structural drawings, or full 3D models and fabrication drawings if you need them.
- Sign-off by a Chartered Professional Engineer.

Concrete & foundationsFrequently asked questions
Do I need an engineer for a steel platform, walkway or access stair?
In most cases, yes. Workplace safety law expects access structures and equipment supports to be fit for purpose, and many sites and principal contractors won't accept them without engineering. Calculations to AS 4100 and AS 1657 are the simplest way to prove a structure is safe for its intended use.
What do you need from me to quote?
Whatever you have: a sketch with dimensions, existing drawings or photos of the site, and what the structure has to carry (people, equipment, vehicles). If you're not sure what loads apply, tell us how it will be used and we'll work it out.
Do you design buildings?
No. We focus on industrial and fabricated structures such as platforms, stairs, equipment supports, decks and their foundations, along with heavy vehicle and mechanical equipment design. For HVAC design in buildings, see our HVAC service.
Do you also produce the fabrication drawings?
Yes. We can take the design straight through to a 3D model and workshop-ready fabrication drawings, so the engineering and the drawings match and your fabricator isn't left guessing.
How long does it take?
It depends on the size of the job. We'll give you a timeframe with the quote, and if you have a hard deadline, such as a shutdown or a site start, tell us up front so we can plan around it.
