The brief
This project involved the engineering design and 3D development of a tri-axle dangerous goods trailer for Australian heavy vehicle applications. Trailers carrying dangerous goods leave no room for compromise: the structure has to be strong, durable and compliant, and the design has to be practical enough to be built consistently.
Our engineering approach
The design was developed with a strong focus on structural efficiency, manufacturability, durability and regulatory compliance. It incorporates a fabricated steel chassis, an integrated suspension system, landing legs, container locking arrangements and heavy-duty running gear, all brought together as one coordinated design.
The trailer was engineered in accordance with the applicable Australian Design Rules (ADR) and relevant NHVR requirements, so that it is suitable for Australian road transport. Particular attention was given to the chassis layout, load paths, fabrication detailing and practical manufacturing considerations.
Outcome
Detailed 3D CAD modelling, engineering development and component integration produced a robust, production-ready design: a modern, functional and manufacturable trailer suited to commercial transport operations.
